MLD Family Conference™
Our next MLD Family Conference is scheduled for March 2009 in central/southern Europe. Specific details will be announced summer 2008.
We will also hold a conference in the US in 2009 - that date and location is
to be established - but expect summer/fall. There will not be a MLD Family
Conference in 2008 - but see below for 2008 MLD Family Gathering™ dates.

MLD Family Gathering™ – Summer 2008
Last summer, in addition to the Boston MLD Family Conference we held a more
informal MLD Family Gathering in Toronto. It was a great success. We want
to repeat that effort and reach more families in smaller "gatherings".
Our proposed MLD Family Gatherings are:
* Sunday July 13th in Maryland/northern Virginia from 4-7PM
* Saturday July 19th in the Chicago area from 4-7PM
* Salt Lake City (exact date (Aug/Sep), time and location based on
participants)
Please contact us if you are interested in attending.
In each case the times are somewhat flexible as are the locations depending
on who expresses interest in attending. In fact we will be asking you for
when and where is most convenient.
The basic format for a MLD Family Gathering is 4-8 families in a
semi-private corner or room of a casual restaurant. It's a chance for all
of us to meet each other - often families living relatively close together
have never met, to share updates on MLD research - we will try to have a
researcher and a Shire representative present, and to share experiences with
each other. We will host a casual dinner and hope you bring your affected
loved one.
MLD FAMILY CONFERENCE - More Details
The MLD Foundation sponsors periodic conferences where families, researchers, care providers, and other speakers are invited to meet, learn, and socialize around the topic of MLD.
The typical MLD Family Conference is a day and a half long. The conferences are not fund-raisers for the MLD Foundation so the costs are minimal.
We want to meet your family member so you are encouraged to bring your MLD affected family member to our conferences! A care room will be provided, if you need it, so that you can attend the sessions relaxed knowing that your family member is well taken care of.

Informal Gatherings - More Details
The Foundation is encourages MLD Family members to gather informally to get to know each other socially. As we are made aware of regional gatherings you will find them detailed here and on the private MLD Family Discussion list. These informal gatherings are usually arranged by a local family and are open to all who can attend.
