MLD Family Gatherings™

As MLD Family Gatherings are scheduled we will post them here. Please contact us if you are interested in a MLD Family Gathering in your city.

In 2007, in addition to the Boston MLD Family Conference, we held a more informal MLD Family Gathering in Toronto. It was a great success bringing a half dozen families together - most of whom had never met face to face before. We repeated this success in 2008 with MLD Family Gatherings in Maryland/northern Virginia, Chicago, and Salt Lake City. And we've repeated the process every year since!

In each case the times are somewhat flexible as are the locations depending on who expresses interest in attending. In fact we will be asking you for when and where is most convenient.

The basic format for a MLD Family Gathering is 4-8 families in a semi-private corner or room of a casual restaurant. It's a chance for all of us to meet each other - often families living relatively close together have never met, to share updates on MLD research - we will try to have a researcher and a Shire representative present, and to share experiences with each other. We will host a casual dinner and hope you bring your affected loved one.

MLD FAMILY CONFERENCE - More Details

MLD Foundation sponsors periodic conferences where families, researchers, care providers, and other speakers are invited to meet, learn, and socialize around the topic of MLD.

The typical MLD Family Conference is a day and a half long. The conferences are not fund-raisers for MLD Foundation so the costs are minimal.

We want to meet your family member so you are encouraged to bring your MLD affected family member to our conferences! A care room will be provided, if you need it, so that you can attend the sessions relaxed knowing that your family member is well taken care of.
